2022: 1. Work Featured in the 6th Issue of the "Made At Berkeley" Showcase Book organised by Berkeley Arts+Design. (Both in Print and Online, as seen below)
2. Displayed thesis project in the UC Berkeley Art Practice 2022 Senior Show, Familiar Delusion, for a three-week run.
3. Created an Illustrated accompaniment for a long-form poem by Anoushka Ghosh, featured in GAG! Magazine Volume 1. Written portions were added in post-edit by the writer.
2021:. 1. Chosen as featured artist in MAAKE Magazine's 12thArtist Anthology publication, as well as in an extensive online interview discussing thematics, background, practice, and trajectory. link: www.maakemagazine.com/armaan-mumtaz
2. Displayed artwork in BARE Magazine's gallery event "Memories in Motion", highlighting the artwork of creatives of colour, receiving one of three Best in Show prizes.
3. Hired for a 2nd term as Head of Illustrations and Infographics for The Daily Californian's Spring 2022 semester.
2020-2021:
1. Awarded with Bold.org's Minority Student Art Scholarship, which was also featured on Bold's LinkedIn profile as a "Bold" student story.
2. Showed collaborative work in a virtual exhibition hosted by UC Berkeley's Art Practice department, titled "Pass the Canvas". The work was available as a virtual-reality exhibition tour, and published on the UC Berkeley website. link: www.artsteps.com/view/608f83f787e67941c8e72606
3. Ideated, organised, and hosted BARE Magazine's Spring 2021 Speakers' Panel, titled "Trend: Defining the Art and Fashion of the Time", which gathered 4 art, fashion, and editorial industry professionals to discuss their forecasts for trends in creative industries, as well as their career trajectories in order to form networking connections with the audience. Speakers from Vogue Magazine, the San Francisco Academy of Art, and WE DA PEPO Artist Collective participated and connected with UC Berkeley students.
4. Hired as the Head of Illustrations and Infographics, an assistant-editorial position, at The Daily Californian.
5. Chosen as a finalist to be showcased in BARE MAGAZINE'S digital showcase highlighting young BIPOC artists, Moonlit Muses, which was published on Instagram's IGTV platform.
6. Showed two pieces with accompanying artist's statements in the second issue of Baude-E-Sabaa Magazine, an online publication focused on centering South Asian creative voices. link: issuu.com/sajiyahmag/docs/pdfjoiner__3_
2019-2020:
1. Displayed work at the UC Berkeley Worth Ryder Gallery's exhibition, Displacement--a show curated and organised by Art Practice honours students, where it stayed on display for a month.
2019:
1. Displayed work in the high school class end of year Senior Exhibition, including final concentration collection before graduation.
2. Showed two works at SDSCPA's Visual Arts Department showcase, Changing Stories, for which I also performed assistant curation duties and designed the promotional poster (as seen below).
3. Awarded titles of Best of Show, Best in Class, and First Place at the San Diego County Fair Student Art Exhibition.
4. On the national level, received both the Gold and Silver Key awards from the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
5. Displayed two works at the San Diego Watercolour Society's Youth Art Month Exhibition, and was awarded Third Place Overall, as well as Best in Class.
2018:
1. Artwork was chosen for inclusion in the Celebrating Art national student art book, which showcased a select few students nationally.
2. Participated in an exhibition within the Lyceum Theatre, in affiliation with the SDSCPA visual arts department, selling a piece at the same event.
3. Displayed two works at the San Diego County Fair competitive student exhibition, winning both first and second place.
2017-2018:
1. Awarded the title of Sophomore Visual Artist of the Year at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts.
2. Through the Volunteer Art Tutor program, taught a beginner's art class to a group of 3rd grade students in the Mountain Empire Unified School District who otherwise had no access to artistic curriculum due to lack of funding.
3. Showed work at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Student Artist Recognition Award Ceremony, ranking among the top 3 San Diego student artists participating.
5. Participated in the IMIN Visual Art competition, exhibiting in the student gallery space.
6. Displayed work in the SDSCPA Visual Arts Major showcase, alongside a video playing my answers to a series of interview questions for the "Student Spotlight" feature.
8. Displayed work in in the San Diego Unified School District art show at the district office building.
2016-2017:
1. Displayed work inside of + on the cover of SDSCPA's annual art and creative writing anthology, titled, "Inscribe".
2. Represented SDSCPA in the Visual Arts category at the IMIN Art Showdown, winning first place and exhibiting in the space.
3. Displayed an original piece of artwork at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, along with other SDSCPA visual arts majors .
4. Had the opportunity to work with artist Hugo Crosthwaite on painting different door murals across the SDSCPA campus.
5. Designed the class of '19 SDSCPA freshman class spirit tee shirt, which was eventually chosen and printed.
